
Level Design Huddles
What exactly is a level design huddle?
I started running level design huddles at Media Molecule to build up some of the younger designers that were joining the company. The format was based on life drawing with the emphasis being on practicing the core skills of space building rather than worrying too much about the outcome. Each week we would pick an inspiring image as a starting point and see what we could build in an hour. As we built, we could share techniques and tips with each other.
The huddles have since grown to be a popular Mm live stream and our private huddles now include designers from other first party Sony studios too. I've documented a few of my favourites bellow.
