Personal Games

Panis Pot

My 4-year-old son told me a story about a pea trying to get into a panis pot so we made it into a game together. It was built during the Dreams Beta and was the first things I released publicly. It’s one of my proudest memories from that time because it combined a lot of different aspects of my life. The game we had spent 7 years making and my sons incredible 4-year-old story telling.

What is a Panis Pot anyway?!?

Ensamey

Ensamey is a game I made for a BBC Strange New Worlds Jam. It was a weeklong, solo jam and a friend suggested I make another Panis Pot style game with my kids. After enjoying the process of making Panis Pot with my son I had been searching for a project to undertake with my daughter who was now also 4 so we dove straight in. It was a whirlwind week, and I was absolutely blown away by the torrent of ideas that came out of her that week!

Such a special project to me! It surely has a nappy on!

Quiz Night

Quiz Night was a 2-day game jam we did at Media Molecule on the theme of 'our hopes for the future'

It was also probably the most fun I have had making a game with friends. We prioritised enjoying the process over the actual end product which I think shows through in the playful, chaotic results.

This jam was a team effort with 3 other molecules, Emei Burell, Sarah Brin & Oli Grant.

Kelp Suprise

This was a 2-day game jam that we did at work on the theme of 'climate change'

This was a solo jam, and I spent the first day watching videos about kelp farming and built the game on the second day. I was entirely prepared to have a depressing few day of making a gloomy game but when I came across this Ted lecture by Bren Smith

more optimistic ideas started to form and I ended up having a lot of fun with it.

One

This was a game I made as an example for a One Button Game Jam I ran at the University of Central Lancashire. I made it in an afternoon as a way of demonstrating how a simple idea could be scaled and developed to create a whole game.

The game jam turned out really well, due in part to the inherent limitations of the theme which helped steer the students towards more achievable concepts.
